PetGPT is an AI-powered pet personality analysis app operated by milaniai.tech. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to being transparent about how we handle your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Information We Collect

Photos you upload

When you upload a pet photo, it is processed by our AI to generate a personality analysis. Photos are uploaded to Cloudinary for storage and are used to display your pet on the community feed and permalink pages.

Chat messages

Conversations with your pet are processed in real-time by our AI and are not stored on our servers. Chat history is kept in your browser's local storage and can be cleared at any time by starting a new session.

Analytics data

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics such as feature interactions, page views, and general usage patterns. This helps us improve the app. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

AI-generated content

Pet profiles, personality analyses, compatibility results, battle outcomes, and AI portraits are stored in our database to enable the community feed and shareable permalink pages.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to power PetGPT:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — Processes pet photos and generates personality analyses, chat responses, compatibility scores, and battle narratives. Photos and text are sent to Anthropic's API for processing.
• Replicate — Generates AI pet portraits. Pet descriptions are sent to Replicate's API; no photos are shared with this service.
• Cloudinary — Stores uploaded pet photos and generated portraits for display on the app.
• PostHog — Collects anonymous usage analytics to help us understand how the app is used and improve the experience.
• Railway — Hosts the application and database infrastructure.

Data Retention

Pet profiles and community feed posts are retained indefinitely to support the community features. Photos stored on Cloudinary are retained as long as the associated pet profile exists. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Chat conversations are stored only in your browser's local storage and are never sent to or stored on our servers. Clearing your browser data or starting a new session removes all chat history.

Cookies & Local Storage

PetGPT uses browser local storage to save your current session (pet profile, chat history) so you can return to where you left off. We do not use tracking cookies. PostHog may use cookies for anonymous analytics purposes.

Children's Privacy

PetGPT is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of PetGPT after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
